Volunteer Center of Door County
Title: Director of Connections and Development
Reports to: Board of Directors
Employment Status: Part Time / Year-round

- The Volunteer Center of Door County’s mission is to build and strengthen volunteerism; creating solutions for community needs.
- The Director is responsible for the organization’s overall programming. S/he serves as the liaison between community members and nonprofit agencies in the promotion and matching of volunteer needs.
- Continue to raise visibility of volunteer needs throughout Door County through marketing of those needs.
The following competencies are required for this position:
Communication - Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in order to successfully market volunteer opportunities and nonprofit agencies in a positive and energetic manner.
Management – Must be able to manage multiple projects and day to day operations without supervision. Implement Board goals and objectives and support Board administration.
Planning & Organizing – Must be detail oriented and able to organize large, annual Golden Heart Volunteer Celebration.
Financial – Secure sustaining funding sources; meeting with donors and grant writing are necessary. Maintain 501(c)3 status of organization. Familiarization with Quickbooks and payroll reports are preferable.
Volunteer Recruitment – Presence at Door County events and to local organizations to promote VolunteerDoorCounty.com, the VCDC volunteer website and database.
Volunteer Management and Training – Support nonprofit volunteer coordinators and managers to strengthen and maintain their volunteer programs.
Technology – Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel. Proficiency in use of social media such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn is necessary.
Programming – Work with local school districts and businesses to enhance service learning and/or volunteer programs. Maintain programming e.g. Sunrise School Ambassador Program.
Qualifications – High School Diploma, but post high school education or degree preferred. Familiarity with and interest in Volunteer Center programming and methods of volunteering. Experience and comfort with budget development and oversight. Computer skills and familiarity with basic software programs are essential.
Compensation is determined by the Board of Directors.
